  • My car is alive.  Heading home, it started sputtering and hesitating bad again. I actually spoke to my car.  I asked 'er, "Is anything wrong with you?" My car answered back a moment later by turning on the "Check Engine" light.

I used a tool called AutoXray to read the stored engine code. The mass air flow sensor is going bad, and I've done everything possible to treat the symptom short of replacing the sensor.  I'm going to be poorer close to $250.

All in all, though, I have a good car. In two years, and by 200,000 miles, the only parts that have gone bad were the PCV valve, the fuel pressure regulator, and the mass air flow sensor.

Despite its problems, Subies are wonderful cars.
