  • If you live in England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, you will want to read this.

    There's apparently a scam going around where people are getting called out of the blue from "support technicians" who claim that the victim's PC has viruses on it (or that Microsoft have told them their PC has a virus), and they will clean up the problem if only the victim will let the "technician" caller walk them through installing all manner of backdoor programs, and for a £185 fee that the hidden fine print says can't be charged back.

    Quite obviously, they target the elderly and the computer illiterate.
